Our Services
Bid Estimates
We assist general contractors and subcontractors in preparing accurate bid estimates for both public and private construction projects. Our team carefully analyzes project drawings, specifications, and scope requirements to prepare reliable cost estimates. We also incorporate location-based material and labor pricing using our internal construction cost database. Over the years, we have supported contractors working on a wide range of projects, including infrastructure, commercial developments, and specialized systems such as HVAC and mechanical installations.
Design Estimates
Design estimates are prepared when a project is still in the early design phase and complete drawings or specifications may not yet be available. In these cases, our estimators rely on industry experience, historical cost data, and professional judgment to develop realistic cost projections. These estimates help architects, engineers, and project owners better understand the financial implications of their design decisions.
Preliminary Estimates
Preliminary estimates are commonly developed during the preconstruction stage of a project. At this stage, stakeholders need an approximate budget to evaluate project feasibility, arrange financing, or plan upcoming construction activities. Our preliminary estimates help developers and investors gain a clear understanding of expected costs before construction begins.
Conceptual Estimates
Conceptual estimates are used during the earliest planning stage of a project when only basic information is available. These estimates help clients evaluate whether a project idea is financially feasible. By analyzing available data and comparing similar projects, our estimators provide a realistic cost range that supports early decision-making and project planning.
Structural Steel and MEP Shop Drawings
In addition to estimating services, we also provide shop drawing support for structural steel and MEP systems. Our CAD team prepares detailed drawings that assist contractors, fabricators, and manufacturers in the fabrication and installation process. We work with industry-standard tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks to ensure accurate coordination and clear construction documentation.
Monthly Takeoff Packages
Many contractors prefer outsourcing estimating services rather than maintaining a full-time in-house estimator. Our monthly takeoff packages provide a cost-effective solution that allows contractors to access experienced estimators whenever needed. With reliable quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates, contractors can bid on more projects and improve their chances of securing new work.
Construction Cost Consultation
We also provide consultation services for clients who need guidance on construction budgeting and cost management. Our team can assist with bid preparation, project budgeting, and reviewing construction costs to ensure projects remain financially viable. This service is particularly helpful for new developers, investors, or contractors who want expert input during the planning stage.

At Bids Expert, we rely on a range of industry-recognized construction estimating software to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in every estimate we prepare. Using professional tools allows our team to perform precise quantity takeoffs, analyze project drawings, and generate reliable cost estimates for contractors and developers.
Our estimators work with widely used platforms such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Trimble, IMHS Mark Systems, ProEst, RSMeans, BidPoint XL, and Quest Estimating. These tools help us review digital plans, measure quantities directly from drawings, and build detailed cost breakdowns for different trades and project types.
For mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects, we also utilize specialized software including FastPIPE and FastDUCT, which allows us to produce accurate estimates for piping, ductwork, and HVAC systems.
By combining experienced estimators with professional estimating software, we are able to deliver dependable material takeoffs and cost estimates that help contractors prepare competitive bids and manage project costs more effectively.

Our Construction Estimating Process
Drawing Review
At Bids Expert, our estimating process begins with a detailed review of the project drawings, plans, and specifications provided by the client. Our team of experienced estimators and material takeoff specialists carefully examines the documents to understand the scope of work, project requirements, and the specific trades involved. During this stage, our experts identify the key components that need to be quantified and discussed before starting the takeoff process.
Estimation
Once the drawings have been reviewed, our estimators begin preparing the material takeoffs using professional estimating tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff (OST). Each quantity is measured directly from the digital plans to ensure accuracy. After completing the takeoffs, our team develops a detailed estimate that includes quantities, labor, and material considerations. The final estimate and takeoff sheets are delivered according to the client’s preferred format, whether it is their own template, our standardized format, or organized Excel spreadsheets.
Pricing
To maintain consistency and clarity, estimates are typically organized using CSI divisions or project-specific drawing codes. Our pricing is based on zip code–specific construction cost data, allowing us to reflect regional labor and material rates. When required, we also incorporate pricing from local suppliers or vendors provided by the client. During this stage, several important factors are considered, including labor wages, market conditions, material availability, transportation costs, inflation trends, and project site constraints.
Final Audit
Before delivering the final estimate, Bids Expert conducts a thorough internal review. A senior estimator performs a final audit to verify the accuracy of quantities, pricing, and trade classifications. This additional quality check ensures that the estimate meets professional standards and provides reliable data for contractors, developers, and project owners.
